Shafiqul Islam Jibon : Obtaining student visa or study permit is not always easy for Bangladeshi students. It is due to the general perception of the developed countries that the main purpose of Bangladeshi students is not clear and in most cases seems doubtful. They think that the most students of this country are travelling abroad for better life, job, income or the future settlement. So the money and the proper documentations are not always enough to get visa for Bangladeshi students.
I think this is a big challenge of our genuine students now, who really wants to go abroad with the sharp intention, which is just studying. Visa comes through the proper documentations and personal interview. But, how to demonstrate that you are a genuine student and your main purpose is just to study, that’s a big challenge.
How to over come this challenge? Here I have some suggestions for you. Today, I will talk about the planning only, and I think it is the basic task you should follow.
Planning: Students should make a fresh plan about their foreign education in well advance. They should discuss with their parents or guardian and take a bold decision about it at least a year before. During this time, they must set and fix their mind about the selection of countries and program of studying.
Fixing mind and the selection of countries, I found a main weak point in some Bangladeshi students. I have seen that their mind is always changing from country to country. Every country has prospects to study and you can be successful their if you concentrate your mind on that particular country. If you wake up in the morning thinking about America, but finally you are coming to us to discuss about Canada, that means you are going to sleep in that night with Germany, you must leave this mentality if you really want to study abroad.
Frequent change of mind about the country selection, will not only kill your time, you will be gradually confused and nervous. Once you have set the country, you should bring a change in your daily life. You need to minimise your activity with friends or outdoor works. You need to study on that country, their education system, universities, tuition fees, living cost, culture and society behavior to foreigners, their immigration policies, etc.
Beside of that, you need to know the A-Z about the personal preparation, when and what to do for the admission and visas, when should you start communication with the universities, what are the documents could be needed for admission and visa, your command in English or the test of language proficiency, what will be the interview type with the visa officer, what type of financial documents should you include with the visa documents, etc.
Better, as I always suggest to my students and parents, you should get involve with an educated and expert educational consultant, who deals with the matter of international admission and visa procedures. Your better planning and research on a particular country will maximise the chances of your visa out come.
